ISDCL Conference in Kotka in June 2024

In June 2024, the conference of the International Society for the Study of Deuterocanonical and Cognate Literature (ISDCL) will take place in Kotka (Finland), organized by the University of Helsinki and the Lutheran Diocese of Mikkeli. This year's conference is focusing on ”Strategies for Responding to Catastrophe in Deuterocanonical and Cognate Literature.”
The DFG project Self-Organisation and Horizontal Binding Forces: Local Authorities in Ancient Judaism from the 6th Century BC to the 1st Century AD will be participating in this meeting, with PI Prof. Barbara Schmitz giving a talk on "From Corona to the Maccabees. Reflections on the Constructions of Societal Cohesion."
In addition, Dr. Lucas Brum Teixeira of the junior research group "Dominion and Power" at the University of Würzburg/Faculty of Theology will present his research on the medieval Hebrew version of the book of Tobit. His paper is titled ”That Our Offspring May Know Your Name and Study Your Torah” (Tob. 8:11b HL). The Medieval ’Hebraeus Londini’ of Tobit as a Strategy for Responding to Catastrophe."
