Presentation of research on late Hellenistic associations and their impact on society by Maria Janosch at the OIKOS International PhD-Days (19-21 March 2025)

The OIKOS PhD-Days, this time organised by the OIKOS Universities under Prof. Gerry Wakker, took place from 19–21 March 2025 in Nunspeet (The Netherlands). 15 PhD-candidates from Dutch Universities and the Universities Oxford, Munich and Würzburg presented their research on ancient literature, history, and archaeology. The PhD-Days, hosted every year by a different member university, aime to give PhD-candidates an opportunity to present their research and get feedback by experts in their fields of study.

The DFG-Project Horizontal Binding Forces, State regulations and local Civil Society: the City of Rome and Western Asia Minor in the late Roman Republic participated, with Maria Janosch presenting her paper “Performing Loyalty – Cult associations and the state in Western Asia Minor” in which she outlined the idea of her dissertation with two case studies.
